Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

The month of January is named after Janus, the Roman God with two faces, one looking forward and the other looking backwards. January can be thought of as a link between the year that was, and the year that is just commencing.

When we are thinking about New Year’s resolutions, it is usual to think of external circumstances that we would like to create, and there is nothing wrong with that. It is also good to reflect upon the internal circumstances that we hope to cultivate. Imagine if instead of striving for more we we felt fulfilled already, if instead of feeling stressed or anxious we felt safe and abundant already? How different would some of our choices be? What if, instead of aiming for particular external conditions, we aimed and worked instead towards enriching our internal landscape?

As you assign meaning to the past and hopes and dreams to the future, allow some of your planning to be of a spiritual nature. Why not ask for more self confidence, greater love, or deeper satisfaction with how things are? What if we made 2015 a year of appreciation and peacefulness?

Blessings and love to you all
